Claudio Marchisio |
Amid a potentially growing rift between the Juventus
midfielder and the Bianconeri chiefs, he has rubbished claims of wanting
more financial reward
Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio has denied suggestions that his current war of words with the club is over wanting more money. On Friday, the 27-year-old had hinted at an exit from the Bianconeri this summer due to not knowing whether he was still considered an important player to Antonio Conte's men.
With the transfer window a fortnight away, the midfielder has insisted that his reason for questioning the Turin-based club's intentions are not down to financial gain.
Marchisio told Sky Sport: "It is not for this reason. For me, it is not about money."
The Italy international, who is currently at the Confederations Cup with Cesare Prandelli's men, has been a key member of the squad in both of Juve's back-to-back Scudetto triumphs in the last two seasons.
However, he has the likes of Andrea Pirlo, Arturo Vidal and Paul Pogba to compete with in midfield and it has been suggested that he could depart the Juventus Stadium ahead of the new Serie A campaign.
